This is the 6th season for me in the Sport League. I am starting my 4th year in the league. I started in June 2004 and bowled every season except last summer. I have bowled with the same guys all but the first summer I joined the league. It has been a great experience and this past winter booked my highest a 160.
I found out the Wednesday before the league started that one of our bowlers would not be bowling this summer. He has had back problems and is undergoing his 2nd round of physical therapy. He is bowling Wednesday and feels there isn't enough time for his back to recouperate fromMonday to Wednesday. So with that, there was the possibility Stanley and I would have to split up.
I walked in Monday and was told Stanley and I would be together with a lady from a team that had split up. So our TBS Team has modified from 2 guys and a lady to 2 ladies and a guy. I am still lead off, Stanlye still anchors. Cynthia bowls in the middle.
So team is covered and we are informed that we will be bowling on a the current USBC Open Nationals pattern modified to meet Sport Sanction requirements. It was very interesting to say the least. Game one was a struggle to find the pocket. I managed a 143. I was not happy with the score, but knew I was doing the best I could.
Game 2 I made a blaa change and it was a little better. My spare shooting was a little better also and I pulled out a 163. Then it was a move from 23-24 to 25-26, the wall. I made one last ball change to the Lane #1 Viper and shot 165-169 for a 640 for the 4 games. While I wasn't happy, it was my book from this past winter. I did get better each game. I must say, even though we lost all 4 points, we had fun and were close on 3 of 4 games. The team we bowled is one of the top 4 in the league, so keeping them close was cool.
This week I'll start with the Viper and see where it goes.
